Name:

Kate Trigg

Education/Background:

After a bit of hopping around from Anne Arundel Community College to the Art Institute of Washington, I landed at Frostburg State University in Maryland where I received my Bachelor of Fine Arts with a double major in Graphic Design and Printmaking.

Where are you from?

I was born in Annapolis, Maryland and grew up in Deale, Arnold, and Bowie – but am now back at home base in Annapolis.

What is something you are passionate about?

Art, cats, and family/friends. I only have two cats (Hazel and Freddie Purrcury), but I am considered a crazy cat lady.

Favorite Quote:

This is a tough one, as most of what I thought of came from Seinfeld. I have a print from a classmate in one of my printmaking classes in college that I really like, I think he came up with the quote himself. I don’t remember his name, unfortunately, but his print hangs on a wall in my office.

It says, “I do this thing people call art because ‘It’ makes me. I do not know what ‘It’ is, only that ‘It’ needs little food and sleep. Some say art is therapy, but ‘It’ doesn’t get better. Some say art is a bandage, but ‘It’ never stops bleeding. All I know is that when I stop creating, the weight of the world comes crashing down.”

What’s the best place you’ve traveled to?

Contrary to most of the team, I am not an avid traveler and have never been outside of the U.S. I hope to visit Australia one day with one of my teammates and best friend, Charlotte Barter, where she’s from.

Until then, I’ll always have a soft spot in my heart for a place called Sunset Beach in North Carolina. It’s been a family tradition to visit every year since I was a kid (minus a couple during the height of COVID-19).

When you were a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up?

A singer, but I’ve got a good bit of stage fright, so that never really panned out.

What is your spirit animal?

According to spiritanimal.info I am a turtle!

"The turtle totem wisdom teaches us about walking our path in peace and sticking to it with determination and serenity.

"Slow moving on earth, yet also incredibly fast and agile in water, those who have the turtle as totem or spirit animal may be encouraged to take a break in their busy lives and look around or within themselves for more grounded, long-lasting solutions."
