How a Remote Company Became a Great Place To Work - Reason #5

Matthew Kilmurry

This is the fifth in a series of blog posts that will highlight ten reasons that have contributed to making Intrinsic Digital a great place to work.

How did Intrinsic Digital become a Great Place to Work?

100% of our employees said we are a Great Place To Work US compared to 57% of employees at a typical U.S.-based company.

Across the board, our employees said:

✔ 100% Management makes its expectations clear.

✔ 100% I can ask management any reasonable question and get a straight answer.

✔ 100% Management is approachable, easy to talk with.

✔ 100% Management is competent at running the business.

✔ 100% Management hires people who fit in well here.Great Place To Work

How is this possible in a remote company?

Reason #5: Shout Out Channel & Core Awards

As you may have seen in previous blogs, our company actively incorporates a set of fundamental principles (Check Out our Core Value Blog here!) that we strive to uphold in both our personal and professional lives. We strongly believe in recognizing instances where our team members exemplify these Core Values. We work hard to create an environment where people can feel accomplished, proud, and genuinely happy where they work. How do we make sure this happens?

1)Shout Out Chat: We implemented a "Shout Out" group within our Teams chat, allowing all members to publicly acknowledge and commend colleagues who have demonstrated one of our Core Values.

2) Core Value Awards: Hosted by our Culture Committee (Check Out our Culture Committee Blog here!), we focus on a single Core Value each month, and vote for the team member who best exemplifies that value best. A winner is then selected at random, and they are given a prize that relates to that Core Value.

We want a work environment where our colleagues enjoy collaborating with each other and acknowledge the unique contributions of everyone, and we intend to recognize and commend those who make a deliberate attempt to exceed expectations and demonstrate exceptional teamwork and overall work performance.

3) Fun Chat Groups: I strongly believe in cultivating a positive culture with close team relationships, where colleagues don't feel like mere workers in a company. To facilitate bonding and connection, we have created multiple team chats that allow individuals to relate and interact with each other. These chats include Our Teams "Dogs + Cats + Bunnies + Ferrets" Chat for animal lovers, our "Team Fun Chat" for random and exciting thoughts throughout the day, and our Teams "Nourish & Flourish Chat" for those who are passionate about leading a healthier lifestyle.

Our company's commitment to upholding our Core Values is more than just a set of rules or guidelines; it is a way of life that we embody in both our personal and professional lives. By establishing channels for acknowledging and commending exceptional work performance and teamwork, we aim to foster a positive culture of collaboration and camaraderie. Our creation of multiple team chats also promotes socializing and relationship-building among team members, which we believe is vital for a cohesive and supportive work environment.
